In-12, false title with dispatch, photographic portrait of the author by Carjat in frontispiece, albumen print, 270 pp. Fir green half-chagrin, spine ribbed and decorated. N-shaped fleuron stamped on the tail of the spine. Letter from the author to his friend Nadar. Copy having belonged to Nadar since he had his gilder affix his gilt iron. Léon-François-Antoine Aurifeuille is the mathematician who discovered the existence of "aurifeuillian" factorizations, as well as the author of three serious mathematical treatises. Under the pseudonym Alfred de Caston, he made a parallel and noticed career as an illusionist. His literary production devoted to the subject is fruitful.
