Gd in-8, publisher's vellum binding, smooth spine with gilt title, first board decorated with a gilt sword, gilt edges, copy preserved in a mute slipcase.Completed printing on June 18, 1945, the edition is limited to 975 numbered copies, due to lack of paper. This one is a numbered copy signed by the illustrator. The edition was largely produced under the occupation in clandestine conditions, the text is illustrated with 16 colour compositions after gouaches by Yves Brayer (1907-1990). Traces on the vellum, title inscription on the cover.
