* 327. [Vendée]. ROBUCHON (Jules). Landscapes and monuments of Poitou. Paris, Motteroz, 1887-1892. 17 fascicles in-folio (46 x 32,5 cm), unsewn, in blue-grey folders. These fascicles contain 44 issues and are therefore a small part of Robuchon's monumental work, which comprised 11 volumes (249 fascicles) and was devoted to describing and illustrating through photography the departments of Vienne, Deux-Sèvres and Vendée. The 17 fascicles here present concern the Vendée. The cantons present are Maillezais and Maillé (fasc. 27 to 30), Fontenay-le Comte (fasc. 42 to 48), Pouzauges (fasc. 72 to 77), Luçon (fasc. 96 to 103), l'île d'Yeu (fasc. 113 to 115), Ste Hermine (fasc. 156 to 162), St Gilles sur vie (fasc. 175 to 182, Benet-sous-les-Noyers (fasc. 211). These issues are illustrated in the text with engravings and photogravures and 78 large photographic plates. These plates are an artistic as well as a documentary success and benefit from reproduction processes (photoglyptic, then heliogravure) of great quality. Some foxing, sometimes, and some folders of deliveries have tears. Attached: WISMES (Olivier de). Le Maine et l'Anjou historiques, archéologiques et pittoresques. Nantes, V. Forest & É. Grimaud (Paris, Bry), s.d. (1862). In folio, xl, 300 p., 60 pl., red half-chag. First volume on Maine alone with 60 pl. (/108 pl. for both volumes). Binding rubbed, corners broken, top cover torn off, title page and flyleaf detached, numerous plates detached, foxing, spotting, other defects. Very poor condition but complete with its 60 plates. Working copy.
