132. MORGAGNI (Giovanni Battista). De sedibus et causis morborum per anatomen indagatis. Yverdon, s.n., 1779. 3 vol. in-4, portrait-frontispiece in the first volume. Marbled fawn basane, spine ribbed and decorated, t.d.p., red edges. Work prefaced by Tissot. This is the major work of the Italian physician Morgagni, which gathers the fruit of 700 post-mortem examinations in nearly 60 years. He is known worldwide as the founder of the anatomical-clinical method. It is to Jean-Baptiste Morgagni (1682-1771), trained in Bologna and then professor in Padua for sixty years, that we owe the discovery of anatomopathology and the first logical classification of diseases, leading to the so-called "anatomoclinical" method. Eminent anatomist and remarkable clinician, he wrote in 1761 a revolutionary work, written in Latin and then translated, De Sedibus et causis morborum per anatomen indagatis, Des foyers et causes des maladies décryptés à travers l'anatomie, explains François Paoli in his book Jean-Baptiste Morgagni ou la naissance de la médecine moderne. Binding heavily rubbed with spotting and accidents to the headpieces. A bookplate has been systematically removed on the back covers. The interior condition is perfect, very fresh.
