281. GREUELL (Arthur, ill.) & BAUDELAIRE (Charles). Les Poèmes condamnés. Brussels, Edition du Cygne Noir, 1927. In-folio red and black morocco with ornate smooth spine, copper plate used for the edition inlaid on the upper cover, original illustrated cover preserved, case, 39 x 27 cm. Confidential edition printed at 106 numbered copies on Hollande Pannekoek, this one being one of the six numbered copies of the first edition after a copy containing the tests. The text of the 6 condemned poems from the original edition of Les Fleurs du Mal given in Paris, by Poulet-Malassis, in 1857 is illustrated with fantastic etchings by the Belgian painter and engraver Arthur Greuell (1891-1966) with a dark, erotic, disturbing and Art-Deco tinted inspiration. All compositions, including those of the suite, are signed in pencil by the artist. Case and binding very slightly rubbed.
