395. LATERRADE (Jean-François). Flora of... - Lot 395 - A.Blanchy | E.Lacombe - Bordeaux Chartrons - Bordeaux Enchères
395. LATERRADE (Jean-François). Flora of Bordeaux. Bordeaux, Moreau, 1811. In-12, 299 p., half-basin with smooth spine. Binding spotted and rubbed. A valuable work by the botanist Charles Laterrade (1784-1858) who was also the founder and director of the Linnean Society of Bordeaux. Laterrade precisely locates the now extinct or persistent plant species, including mushrooms, and sometimes explains the use that the Bordeaux people made of them. For example, a lichen, the pulmonary of oaks observed on the trunk of old trees in Mérignac, was used to prepare leather. Sensitive to atmospheric pollution, it has completely disappeared from Mérignac and the species is now in decline in Gironde.
