75. JOHN VI (known as John Catholicos). History of Armenia. Paris, Imprimerie Royale, 1841 (Bound in the following:) LE VAILLANT DE FLORIVAL (Paul-Émile). Coup-d'oeil sur l'Arménie ou géographie sommaire, précis de l'histoire d'Arménie. Paris, Librairie française et étrangère, 1846. In-8, xlviii, 462 p., 44 p., half tan basane, smooth spine decorated (Binding of the time). The first work is published by the archaeologist Félix Lajard (1783-1858), who signs the preface, and the translation is by the orientalist Antoine-Jean Saint-Martin (1791-1832). The tenth-century patriarch John VI, also known as John Catholicos, was given the nickname Badmapan by the Armenians, which means the Historian. His history contains little known details about his century. The work bound in the suite is by the Armenologist Paul-Émile Le Vaillant de Florival (1799-1862). Spine rubbed, pencil underlining on the title page, some foxing.
