JAPAN - Meiji period (1868-1912) Large bottle-shaped porcelain vase with turquoise-blue ground and gilded overglaze decoration of peacocks with mother-of-pearl inlay, butterflies and flowering branches. The vase is mounted as a lamp with a hole just above the heel. With folded canvas shade. Probably made in the kilns of Awaji Island. H. of vase alone 92 cm Total height 152 cm
