Large "Servizio Ercolanése" soft-paste rafraichissoir with polychrome decoration of seated or standing vestals carrying a basket of fruit and a love figure holding a quiver. Above, on the upper rim, a braid in relief, and below, interlacing twists with foliage, rosettes and stylized motifs surround birds or animals on a leafy mound in gold monochrome. Gold fillets on the rim. Inside the rafraichissoir, the inscription in red "MVS.ERCOL. SERIE DEI BRONZI VASO D'INVENZIONE DI CORNELIAE SCHELIDONI. SERIE DI PITTURE. "It rests on a period ormolu mount on three feet depicting winged horned devils on a lion's leg resting on a base.
Second part of the 18th century circa 1781-1782 Cavalier Venuti period.

Some wear to the decoration and the interior inscription in red, chips to the rim and to one socket formed by a woman's head, chip to the other socket.

Dessert service executed for Charles III of Spain, painted by Guicomo Milani and Antonio Cioffi. It is accompanied on the table by cookies modeled by Filippo Tagliolini. The Royal Manufactory spread the word about the splendid archaeological discoveries of Herculaneum and Pompeii, thanks to the engravings published for the King in 1757 and 1798, "Le Antichità di
Ercolano esposte". These albums, intended for the European courts and high-ranking personalities, could not be sold. The king granted only a privileged few special permission to visit the site and galleries. As early as 1782, copies of the bronze and marble vases and statuettes were made, based on excavated objects. The manufactory's porcelain
porcelain contributed to the spread of a taste "à la grecque" but also "à la romaine", destined to spread throughout Europe.
