Neapolitan school of the 19th century "Volcano of Naples". Two titled gouaches forming a pair, the first depicting the volcano smoking in front of French-flagged sailboats, the second depicting the eruption with the same sailboats without flags. 44 x 67 cm on view (One without glass, one with a tear, small scratches and small jumps in material) The backs of the frames indicate that "these frames were purchased in Naples in 1853" by a member of the family who was visiting the city at the time.
