123 - VERNE (Jules). Famille sans nom. Paris, J. Hetzel, s.d. (1889). Red boards with two elephants. Intermediate type 3, back cover Lenègre type e, EX catalog. One of the first copies with a peculiarity: the title on the first board no longer has its article and reads "Famille SANS NOM", while the spine reads "UNE / FAMILLE / SANS NOM", corrected by a gilded finial affixed to the article in an attempt to conceal it. We know of several trial-and-error copies before the definitive version, which has no article anywhere. Some foxing, other minor defects, copy in cellophane.
