124 - VERNE (Jules). Famille sans nom. Paris, J. Hetzel, s.d. (1889). Red boards with two elephants. Intermediate type 3, back cover type Lenègre e, EX catalog. One of the first copies with a peculiarity: the title on the first board no longer has its article and reads "Famille SANS NOM", while the spine reads "UNE / FAMILLE / SANS NOM", corrected by a gilded finial affixed to the article in an attempt to conceal it. Several trial-and-error copies are known before the definitive version, which has no article anywhere. Spine unstained, small discolored halo on first board, split ends of spine ends, false-title double leaf detached, board wobbly, some foxing, other minor defects, copy in cellophane.
