Germany, Meissen, 19th century Very important rocaille porcelain table centerpiece depicting Mount Parnassus with Apollo surrounded by the nine muses. Polychrome and gold decoration. It is made up of 20 interlocking parts, some of which are named after the Muses and the Castalia fountain on their gold-combed rocaille base. On the top, Apollo stands holding his lyre, surrounded by palm trees and rocks decorated with flowers and vegetation; below, the nine Muses, daughters of Zeus, Litania, Calliope, Melpomene, Thalia, Clio, Terpsichore, Polymnie, Uranie, the figure of Euterpe is missing.
