BORDEAUX - 1 bottle, Saint-Julien, Château Gruaud-Larose, 2n - Lot 195
BORDEAUX - 1 bottle, Saint-Julien, Château Gruaud-Larose, 2nd Grand Cru Classé, probably 1865 or 1869. Extract from the bottle history as written on the back label of the bottle (author René Pijassou, professor emeritus at Michel de Montaigne University, Bordeaux III): In May 1991, the Gaspar Opération group discovered the wreck of a merchant ship in Indonesian waters. The Marie-Thérèse, a 503-ton three-masted barque from Bordeaux, sank on February 29, 1872 in the Gaspar Strait on a voyage to Saigon. It was the discovery of the word Larose on a crate board that led to the attribution of these bottles to Château Gruaud-Larose...' Domed wax capsule, slightly damaged and with a crack. Slightly dirty label with a small tear at the lower edge. Slightly soiled back label with a peeling point at its lower left corner. Presence of a USA back label.
