In-12, [11] f., 187 p., [5] p. ill. with a title-frontispiece, a page reproducing the coat of arms of Claude Le Peletier, to whom the work is dedicated, and 25 hors-texte engravings. Contemporary binding in brown basane, spine ribbed and decorated. First edition. Pierre Bullet (1639-1716), architect and engineer to the king, was notably the inventor of the pantometer, a geometric surveying instrument used to measure angles in the field. Binding solid but rubbed, spotting, corners dulled, covers damaged. Fresh inside. Also by the same author: Architecture pratique. Paris, Delalain, 1774. In-8, illustrated with a frontispiece, 14 engravings. H.T., numerous figures in the text and a folding table. Marbled calf, ornate spine, red marbled title page. Upper headband damaged, splits at head. A worm gallery in the lower margin of the last 33 leaves, biting on some characters in the table of contents.
